The MPPT regulator adjusts the V-A characteristic of the current source-solar panel with the help of an internal converter so that it is optimal for charging the battery. It can therefore use the energy from solar panels much better than the PWM controller, which regulates charging only by pulse limiting the direct connection of the solar panel and the battery, when the pulse width is proportional to the state of the battery being charged. In other words, the MPPT controller can generate the ideal voltage and current for charging the battery from the higher voltage and lower current of the source. For example, it generates approx. 15V and 10A from 30V and 5A. The conversion efficiency of the V-A characteristic is usually over 95%, so the losses are minimal and the regulators can usually be adapted to different types of batteries so that the charging is as optimal as possible.
